Vivian Im - Team Pro Player Information
Vivian Im
Vivian Im is a poker pro from Korea who originally had aspirations of making it as a dancer before making it at the green felt instead. She trained in dance from childhood and was soon good enough to start performing successfully at competitions. Vivian went on to graduate from university with a degree in the art form and began teaching children soon after. She was ready for a new challenge after a few years however, and turned her attention to poker. It was a game she was introduced to by her boyfriend, who himself had been shown the ropes by ElkY when they both played the Starcraft circuit.
It wasn’t long before Vivian began to master her new hobby, and she has built up a solid reputation as one of her nation’s best players since. After several cashes and final tables at events across Asia, she hit the big time in 2010 at the Cebu leg of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT). Vivian cut her way through the 236-strong player field to take the title, a cheque for $134,142 and a place in history as the first-ever woman to win an APPT event.
Other career highlights include a final table appearance in the Red Dragon Event, held as part of the Macau Poker Cup in January 2011. Vivian finished as runner-up, adding another huge cash of $97,629 to her growing list of achievements. She’s also won big online, regularly making the money in major PokerStars tournaments.
Away from poker Vivian enjoys listening to music at home and at concerts, and even plays the piano when she gets time. She also likes winter sports such as skiing, and is an active player on the online video game scene, specializing in Starcraft. Vivian plays for Team PokerStars Pro and you can find her online under the User ID ‘Vivian Im’.
