Team PokerStars Pro - Victor Ramdin

Victor Ramdin
Annand ‘Victor’ Ramdin’s rise on the poker scene over the past few years has been nothing short of meteoric. The type of respect that Ramdin, from Guyana, South America, has from others in the poker world would normally be indicative of a player who was a seasoned veteran.
Surprisingly, it was just a few short years ago in 2002 that Ramdin decided to start playing poker. He was sitting in a Bronx bar watching his friends play, and took an interest. Ramdin soon discovered that he had a natural feel for the game, and within a short time he was cashing in major events and in poker variations beyond Texas holdem.
Within one year of taking up the game he had cashed in 4 tournaments before entering the Omaha hi / lo event at the Orleans Open in July 2003. He outlasted the field to take home the victory and his first major win of $24,550. Ramdin has continued his torrid pace, recently topping $2 million in poker tournament winnings, including a whopping $1.3 million when he won the 2006 World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic. Two weeks later, he came agonizingly close to making the final table of the World Poker tour Championship when he finished in 11th place and had to settle for a mere $146,460.
Despite his recent success on the poker tournament circuit, Ramdin describes himself as a semi-pro. This description of semi-pro is true only in the context that Ramdin also runs a few small businesses, as well as invests in real estate. In the context of the card table, Ramdin isn’t semi - anything, he’s a full-time devastating poker machine.
Like Barry Greenstein, Ramdin dedicates a lot of time and money to charity. He travels regularly to his native country of Guyana to give assistance both monetarily and physically to Guyana Watch, a group dedicated to improving the life of children through improved medical care and education. In fact, Greenstein and Ramdin have contributed to each other's charities in a bid to highlight these worthy causes.
