Victor Ramdin

Born in Guyana, Victor Ramdin ran several successful shops in New York and was also a real estate investor before he ultimately found fame as a poker player. He first noticed poker while hanging out with friends who often played. After asking them to teach him he became hooked and it wasn’t long before his new hobby went beyond playing against buddies in a bar.

Success came from the moment Victor began playing live tournaments. He finished 29th in his first World Series Main Event in 2003 which won him $35,000. It was a small sum to Victor but helped him prove to himself that he could play poker full time. In the same year Victor entered the main event of the Showdown at the Sands festival, a $10,000 tournament that saw him finish in 3rd place for $200,000.

Victor’s success continued and he secured his biggest victory at the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic in 2006 in a field of 431, a prize worth a massive $1,331,889. A few days later at the WPT Championship event in Las Vegas Victor finished 11th for another $146,460 to add to his tournament winnings, and in 2007 he reached his fist WSOP* final table, a 9th place finish in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout. More recently in 2008, he put in a strong performance at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), busting in 25th for $40,000. A return to the PCA in 2011 saw him win a side event for $49,790, before then going on to score a huge win at The Big Event Main Event in Los Angeles for $500,000. Victor also plays the biggest tournaments online at PokerStars, and won a $109 rebuy event in 2013.

Away from the tables Victor gives up much of his free time to Guyana Watch, a medical outreach program for children in Guyana. He also enjoys 4-ball billiards, 8-ball pool, darts and cricket. He still owns a chain of New York based stored and still invests in real estate.

Victor’s incredible record at the table and the time he spends on charity work make him a great ambassador for the game and more titles seem likely. He resides in Toronto (Canada), where he competes online as a member of Team PokerStars Pro under the name ‘VictorRamdin’.
