A background in both backgammon and psychology has helped give Argentinean poker pro Veronica Dabul the kind of skills needed to make it big in the poker world. The pinnacle of her backgammon career came when she reached the semi-final of the World Championships in Monte Carlo - a prestigious event where Veronica played against the best players in the game. These days Veronica focuses her time on poker, and it seems to be paying off.
She has performed exceptionally well at the World Series of Poker* in Las Vegas, with a total of six cashes at events since 2007, worth more than $85,000. This includes back-to-back cashes in the $10,000 World Championship Main Event, in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Considering the huge field sizes every year that make it one of the toughest events to win, it’s an incredible achievement that shows Veronica is more than capable of holding her own in major multi-table tournaments. Elsewhere, she also cashed closer to home at the Punta del Este leg of the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) in August 2008, taking away $9,360 for a 16th place finish. Veronica also plays online at PokerStars, where she has picked up some great results in the regular tournaments, and occasionally also plays cash games.
Rolling with Team PokerStars Pro means that Veronica will now be playing at more of the biggest live events across Latin America and beyond, looking for that first major title win. She plays online at PokerStars using the screen name ‘princesa’.
