Tuan Lam

Tuan Lam was born in the middle of the Vietnam War on New Year’s Day.  Neither he nor his family knew that he would not only survive the war-torn country, move to North America, and, eventually become a millionaire by playing a game.  From his new home in Ontario, Canada, Lam was working hard to support his family.  However, with no higher education, Lam was having a hard time finding a job.

After getting laid off and working in jobs he hated, Lam decided he was going to get his high school diploma and go to business school.  While he got the diploma, he had not cash to pay for college.  A friend gave him a chance to deal in a card room, and Lam saw it as a perfect chance to make some money.  However, he also had to play as a prop player to keep the room’s games going.  Lam took to reading poker books and learned everything he could about the game.

Lam soon learned he had a knack for poker.  He started playing short-handed games on PokerStars and, before long, was making enough money to support his family.  His wife quit her job and stayed at home with their kids.  Though he considered himself a cash game specialist, Lam made the last-minute decision to attend the 2007 World Series main event.  His story would soon be told all over the world.  Lam barreled through the field, finishing in second place and earning nearly $5 million.

Lam is now a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online under the name 'TuanLam'.
