Team PokerStars Pro - Steve Paul Ambrose

Steve Paul Ambrose
Steve Paul Ambrose was a Science and Business student at the University of Waterloo in Canada when he discovered poker. Texas Hold’em was popular on campus and it wasn’t long before Steve began playing too. He would soon explode onto the poker scene.
Steve had never considered playing the game himself despite often hearing his uncle and brother discuss for hours the hands they’d played. But the sight of Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker winning the World Series Main Event in 2003 spurred him on to pick up a deck of cards. He spent the next few days studying the game.
His bankroll started to grow and by the end of 2005 he was ready to play in the prestigious PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. He won the whole thing and a first prize of $1,388,600 – a life changing payday after arriving as an amateur, just like Chris Moneymaker. More cashes around the world have followed including a final table of the $5,000 Mixed Hold’em event at the 2007 World Series. There he busted in 4th place for $146,259 and followed that with a 3th place in the $5,000 Hold’em event at the Bellagio Cup III, earning another $97,460.
When spare time arises Steve likes playing golf, reading, cooking and enjoying time with his fiancé.
The danger after winning a big event is that you become a hotshot only to disappear into obscurity shortly afterward. Instead Steve proved he has the ability to be a full time pro and is a threat in any tournament he plays in. As a member of Team PokerStars Pro he can be found using the name ‘Stevejpa’.
