Simone Ruggeri

Simone came to poker after starting out playing Magic: The Gathering. It’s a card-based strategy game played in a tournament format - something which makes it perfect training for life as a poker pro. An online poker specialist, he started out grinding hard in low stakes Sit & Go’s, and is now one of Italy’s biggest online winners.

The turning point for Simone came in 2007 when he scored a big online win that gave him a sizeable enough bankroll to stay in the game full time. The key to his success has come from solid bankroll management. He’s more than willing to drop down to a lower level when running bad, and also switch gears to adapt to what ever challenge he faces. It’s thanks to skills like this that Simone has been able to earn a decent living from the game. He’s also started to make a few waves on the live poker scene, playing at tournaments across Italy and beyond. His best result so far was a cash at the Italian Championships, held in San Remo in 2007. Simone says that he’s now itching to play in bigger tournaments like the PokerStars European Poker Tour, and has his eye on taking down his first major title.

Away from the poker table, Simone enjoys reading books on a range of subjects, including anthropology, politics, current affairs and sociology. He also enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends. Simone plays online at PokerStars using the screen name ‘S.Ruggeri’.
