Rafa Nadal

Born in Majorca, Spain, Rafa Nadal was already impressing local coaches on the junior tennis circuit at just eight years of age. He was good enough to turn pro by the time he was 15, and has since become one of the greatest players the game has ever seen.

The first of 11 Grand Slam wins so far came at the 2005 French Open, when Rafa was still just 19. He went on to win the same event for the next three years running (2006, 2007 and 2008), and again in 2010 and 2011.

His first taste of success at Wimbledon came in 2006 when he finished as runner-up against Roger Federer; a player with which Nadal has formed one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sport, with many epic matches between the two of them. He finished second to Federer again in 2007, but finally triumphed against him in 2008 for his first Wimbledon title. He won again in 2010, and scored another runner-up finish in 2011. His other Grand Slam titles include victory at the Australian Open in 2009, and a win at the US Open in 2010. Rafa has also won several other titles, and in 2008 earned perhaps the greatest achievement in world sport when took gold for Spain at the Olympics in Beijing.

Still at the top of his game, Rafa is also now bringing his skills to the poker table, and will be competing online at PokerStars as he travels the world on the tennis circuit. You can watch him compete when he’s online by searching for the User ID ‘Rafa Nadal’.
