Pier Paolo Fabretti
Pier Paolo Fabretti
Pier Paolo Fabretti began playing strategy games with cards while studying journalism at university, and Magic: The Gathering was his game of choice. He played the game successfully and travelled to compete in international tournaments, and it was at these tournaments that US players introduced him to Texas Hold’em. Pier Paolo immediately looked online to play, and he started at PokerStars in 2005 playing $5 heads-up.
Most of his success since then has been online. He plays the big tournaments at PokerStars and has racked up some good results. He finished fifth in the Sunday Million in January 2008 winning $45,120 in prize money, and followed that up a few weeks later with another big score – this time winning the Nightly Hundred Grand for a payday of $27,137. He’s also satellited into some of PokerStars biggest live events, including the WSOP* Main Event, the APPT tournament in Sydney, as well as four EPT events. The start of the Italian Poker Tour is great news for poker in Italy, and Paolo in particular, as he has identified a big live tournament result as his main priority.
Away from the tables Pier Paolo loves travelling to experience different cultures and meet new people. He’s also a keen movie-goer and enjoys reading and listening to music. Another of his interests is Judo, which he’s been involved in since childhood. Joining Team PokerStars pro means a lot to Pier Paolo, who sees it as a great honor and an opportunity to be a role model for other players. He hopes to continue as a winning player and also find that breakthrough live tournament result. Pier Paolo Fabretti is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays on online with the screen name ‘P.Fabretti’.
