Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis has always played games. It began with sports in his hometown of Vlissingen in Southern Netherlands, and progressed to computer games. He became an expert player of the strategy-based title Starcraft, and struck up a friendship with another young European player. That player was fellow Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, and it was ElkY who first convinced Lex to play online poker. The first $10 in Lex’s PokerStars account was put there by ElkY, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Starcraft players have a habit of picking up online poker quickly, and it was no different for Lex. His User ID fast became known as he moved up the cash game levels, crushing the opposition on his way. You can now find him multi-tabling at the highest limits, and he’s just as dangerous in tournaments. He’s topped the online Tournament Leader Board at PokerStars on two occasions and he’s a regular at the world’s top live events.
After starting out in the card rooms of Holland and France, he made his way across the Atlantic to compete in the big tournaments in Las Vegas. Lex found success in events at the Mirage, Mandalay Bay and Bellagio, and also made the money at several World Series of Poker* tournaments. His biggest result at the World Series so far came in 2009, when he entered the $40,000 40th anniversary tournament and reached the final table, pocketing $277,939 in prize money for a seventh place finish. Following that big cash, the young pro from the Netherlands aims to go deep again and he can be found at the big tournies in Vegas, and on the European Poker Tour (EPT) pursuing that goal.
Lex lives the life of the jet-set poker pro, sharing his time between Rotterdam and Las Vegas. He’s always on the look-out for the best live games, as well as putting in the work at the high stakes tables online. He may return to his university studies one day, but at the moment it’s poker that he’s concentrating on. Lex Veldhuis is a member of Team PokerStars Pro, and you can find him playing online at PokerStars with the User ID 'L. Veldhuis'.
