Spanish poker player Juan Manual Pastor studied Industrial Engineering and Journalism at university before becoming a pro. He also worked in various different marketing jobs, in both television and online. He’s been playing poker ever since learning the game as a child from his grandfather, and has now been able to make it his living.
Juan’s live tournament results record goes back to 2006, when he made two top-10 finishes in events at the World Heads-Up Poker Championships in Barcelona. His first big win came when he took down an event on the Campeonato Espana de Poker, a regional tour of poker events held across Spain. The victory was worth $35,045 and proved that Juan had the skills to make it as a pro. Since then he has picked up an impressive list of money finishes at tournaments across Europe, including three cashes at events on the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT), worth more than $30,000 in total. This includes a 17th place finish at EPT Warsaw in November 2008.
Juan enjoys a wide range of sports when he isn’t playing poker, including Handball, Judo, Rugby and Boxing. He says that he is proud to be a part of Team PokerStars Pro and is looking forward to making his country proud by winning many major events in years to come. Clearly one of Spain’s stars of the future, he’ll no doubt be winning that elusive big title soon. He plays online at PokerStars using the screen name ‘Juan Manuel’.
