Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri
Travelling the world playing tournaments is nothing new to young Italian Dario Minieri. Before doing just that as a poker pro he was a Magic: The Gathering player, and at 16 years of age was spending much of his time on a game that serves as an apprenticeship to many young poker pros. Such was his dedication that he put a halt to his plans of studying psychology at university, a plan that would go on to change even more.
After a friend introduced him to poker Dario quickly found he was a winning player and soon realized he wanted to turn pro and dedicate all his time to the game. His first World Series Main Event came in 2006 where he cashed and he did the same a year later, improving with a 96th place finish in the main event worth $67,353. His growing reputation was helped by strong performances on the European Poker Tour. In season 2 Dario finished 22nd in the Grand Final collecting $20,235. Then came a final table, finishing in third place at EPT Baden in season 3 for $159,763, before his biggest EPT result in San Remo in season 4, where his second top three finish earned him $451,532. He returned to Las Vegas in June for the World Series, and won his first bracelet in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event, picking up prize money of $528,418. Next up, Dario went agonizingly close to capturing his first EPT title – when he finished third at the Season 5 event in Warsaw, taking home $155,184.
When not jetting around the world to play poker Dario enjoys soccer, movies and driving his Porsche.
In his so far short career Dario’s reputation has made him a player to look out for at every step. As a member of Team PokerStars Pro Dario plays online under the name ‘Dariominieri’.
