The Poker Star is a brand-new poker show that is set to run every Friday from October 7. To mark the start of the new series, PokerStars.net is running weekly freerolls that are exclusive to players in New Zealand. There’s a $1,000 prize pool up for grabs every week, and it won’t cost you a cent to play - simply use the password given out on each episode of the show to get your seat.

How to Enter The Poker Star NZ Free Tournaments

You can watch the show every Friday on Channel 4 after the evening movie (20.30 local time), until November 25. The password for each weekly freeroll will be revealed on the show, and the tournament itself will take place online afterwards at 23:30 local time. Finish in the top 20% and you’ll earn a share of the $1,000 prize pool!

You can find the freerolls by going to the PokerStars.net lobby and clicking the ‘Tourney’ & ‘Private’ tabs. Simply scroll down until you find ‘The Poker Star NZ’. To register, select the latest tournament and enter the password given out on that week’s episode.

The TV show features poker legend and 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem, who acts as a mentor for a group of budding poker players all looking to be the next big thing on the poker scene. They get to learn the game from the pros and compete against each other, with one contestant being eliminated each week until there is just one left standing. It’s not to be missed, and you can watch every week from October 7.
