• What is the Americas Cup of Poker?
• The PokerStars Americas Cup of Poker (ACP) is a team event in which PokerStars players from designated countries play off in a series of matches. The tournament will end when one team remains. That team will be crowned the Americas Cup of Poker Champions.
• How do you choose the Americas Cup of Poker Teams?
• Each country will assemble a team of four players through qualifying tournaments. The four players will be those who accumulate the most points for their team throughout the qualifying tournaments. Teams that reach the live Final, held in Iguazu Falls, will have an additional Team PokerStars Pro chosen by PokerStars added to their team.
• How much does it cost to play in my country’s qualifiers?
• You can enter via PokerStars.net for free, with our Americas Cup of Poker daily freerolls.
• What does the winner of the Americas Cup of Poker receive?
• The final eight Americas Cup of Poker teams will win packages – including travel expenses and accommodation in Iguazu Falls - to play before a live audience. The ACP prize pool ($150,000) will be distributed as follows:
  • 1st: $50,000 ($10,000 per person)
  • 2nd: $35,000 ($7,000 per person)
  • 3rd: $20,000 ($5,000 per person)
  • 4th: $15,000 ($3,000 per person)
  • 5th-6th: $10,000 ($2,000 per person)
  • 7th-8th: $5,000 ($1,000 per person)
  
  All of the above payments are to the entire team, including any Team PokerStars Pro members and will be distributed equally. For instance, each member of the winning team will receive $10,000.
• How do you determine a player’s position within each team?
• Each team in the Americas Cup of Poker contains five players – the four highest points scorers in qualifying tournaments, plus one Team PokerStars Pro selected by PokerStars. Players are assigned a team position based on their point ranking. The team positions are as follows:
  • Team Captain – Team PokerStars Pro member, appointed by PokerStars
  • Position 2 –The highest Points scorer
  • Position 3 – The second highest Points scorer
  • Position 4 – The third highest Points scorer
  • Position 5 – The fourth highest Points scorer
  • Position 6 - The fifth highest points scorer
• What if a qualifying player turns down a position on their team?
• Should a qualifying player turn down a position on the team, then it will be offered to the next highest points scorer in the qualifying tournaments.
• When is the final event?
• The live Final event is scheduled be held from May 6-9, 2010, but that date is subject to change. The Final event will be filmed for TV.
• How old do I have to be to participate?
• The minimum age to play in the Americas Cup of Poker is 18 or the legal age of majority in your country, whichever is higher.
• Suppose I am a citizen of country A, but live in country B. Which country's team should I play for?
• You can only participate in the qualifying tournaments for the country which your PokerStars account is registered in. Any attempted duplication of tournaments or fraud involving residency or citizenship will result in the player's disqualification from the Americas Cup of Poker.
• If I live in a country that does not have an ACP team, can I participate in the ACP?
• Yes you can. All countries who don’t have their own team can qualify and play for ‘Rest of LATAM’.
• What will happen if a player changes his or her address to play for a different country?
• If the player is making the change for a legitimate reason (e.g. because he moved), that's fine. However, a player who arbitrarily changes his or her address (or plays in qualifiers for multiple jurisdictions) will be completely disqualified from the Americas Cup of Poker and will not be permitted to play on any team. Please note that players may be required to show appropriate ID and/or proof of residency at any time during the online or live portions of the event.
• How many teams will participate in the live final?
• Eight teams will win a place at the live final at Iguazu Falls. The six teams with the most wins will qualify automatically, with the remaining four teams participating in play-offs to decide the final two places.
• How will the play-offs work?
• Upon the completion of the main country vs country qualification stage, the top six teams advance to the live final. The remaining four teams will then play-off against each other. Each team will play against one another for one day of matches. These play-off tournaments will take place April 16–18.

• How does a team win a seat to live final?
• The 10 teams participating in the ACP qualification tournaments will play country vs. country against each other to score points e.g. USA vs. Mexico. Points will be awarded to the top 100 finishing places in each tournament. Visit the Points page to see how points will be distributed. There will be one tournament, every day of the game week and the points from all the tournaments won by players from their respective country will be added up to determine the winner.
